Wide Bay Sports Academy is Relaunched

Wide Bay Sports Academy (WBSA) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation supporting the development of athletes, coaches, and clubs across the Wide Bay region. It was relaunched in August 2026. The new website has also recently been launched at: www.wbsa.org.au

WBSA offers tailored programs, elite coaching, and pathways to aid with achieving success. The programs support athletes at every stage, from foundation development to performance and return-to-play pathways, alongside dedicated programs for schools and clubs.

Here is a quote from their website:

“Wide Bay Sports Academy (WBSA) was established to give talented athletes the opportunity to develop their sporting potential without needing to leave the Wide Bay region. We’re dedicated to developing confident, disciplined, and motivated athletes through elite-level coaching and a strong focus on personal growth.”

In addition to providing physical training and support, the organisation is exploring opportunities to establish coaching networks and provide access to professional development and training that is often typically only more readily available in larger metropolitan areas. Another aim is to show that regional communities such as Bundaberg have the capability to support high-quality programs that enable local athletes and coaches to remain in their communities while continuing to develop their skills, knowledge and careers in their chosen fields.

Their relaunch evening event was held on the 20th of August at the Bundaberg RSL Club. Some photos from the event are below.

With the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, the Academy is also helping ensure the Wide Bay has the coaching and development our next generation of athletes need.
